Diana Robinson was born in Columbus, Ohio and attended Ohio University in Athens, Ohio where she received her Bachelor's degree. While attending Ohio University she met New York-based composer Alec Wilder who introduced her to jazz pianist Marian McPartland in New York City. After receiving an invitation from Marian to study jazz piano with her Diana moved to New York City and began studying and performing with her own trio. While hanging out with Marian and other jazz greats Diana began photographing rehearsals and performances she attended. Her love for photography soon overtook her love for performing jazz and she became a passionate photographer, developing 35mm color film and producing color prints in her bathroom darkroom.

Diana returned to school and got her Master's degree at New York University where she met her husband, computer scientist and mathematician, the late Jacob T. Schwartz. Jack and Diana traveled extensively throughout their 23-year marriage and their trips resulted in wonderful photographic opportunities for Diana. Jack's influence on Diana's photography and computer skills was enormous. She has studied digital printing and color management at the International Center of Photography in New York.

Diana is an avid kayaker, hiker and bicyclist and loves to travel and take photographs.

Diana uses Nikon gear including the camera that "changed her life" - the Nikon D3s.
