A Snow Day for the Sandhill Cranes

March weather can be a little unpredictable in Nebraska. It was 20 degrees and snowy this morning on the Platte River and the cranes slept in a bit. I don’t think they wanted to stop huddling together. But they finally flew off and headed to the surrounding snow covered cornfields for breakfast.

There was a beautiful sunrise so I stopped near Minden to get this view of the river.
